David and fellow Phoenix Green Garage director Nick Benwell recently took part in the inaugural Vintage London run. The boys drove a 1934 Lagonda M45 Continental Tourer by Vanden Plas from teh Phoenix to London. Appropriately, the car was the actual example displayed by Lagonda at the Olympia Motor Show back in 1934.
A fine array of vintage machinery from Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Alfa Romeo, MG, Austin, Ford and Daimler first assembled for an evening dinner at the Spaniards Inn, Hampstead before venturing out on a night-time drive around central London’s most famous landmarks including Regents Park, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar square, The Mall and Buckingham Palace. The run finished at midnight at Merlin McCormack’s Duke of London premises in Brentford where the Duke entertained the drivers in fine style at his eclectic Plonkers bar.
